I feel strongly about getting the word out about infertility, since I have been through it myself. So I wanted to do something to give back to the infertility community and especially RESOLVE. So I came up with the Expecting a Miracle book. I posted the need for families with infertility challenges on my business Facebook site to be models. Then I chose 15 families and we did full sessions with all of them, in turn for the model rights and use of their stories in the book. They have all built beautiful families after going through infertility. Whether they chose to adopt or go through medical measures, families were born.

Our hope for this book is that we can help other women and families through this difficult journey. Even if it is just by showing that there is a bright spot at the end of the tunnel, that is enough. For most of us, it did take awhile, so please keep a positive outlook. If one door is shut, another one will be opened. Families are born in all kinds of ways. We hope you enjoy reading about these beautiful families and photos. And we do hope that your journey is fruitful at the end, whatever the outcome might be. My hope is that no matter if your journey takes 6 months or 6 years, please don’t give up hope. A family can be made in many different ways. And often it will look different than we thought, usually 100 times better.

Kara Powell Photography was opened in 2009 after the birth of Kara’s son. The experience of not feeling comfortable taking newborn portraits at the mall led her to open her own studio catering to moms and their newly formed families. At Kara Powell Photography, we believe the family is the center of everything. So we don’t take just newborn portraits. We focus on your growing family. Our sessions are a little longer so we can include the whole family and get to know everyone a little better. They is why on our website you will see a lot of families mixed in with newborn sessions. Most of our newborn clients stay with us year after year. They become family. And we love to see all of the little ones grow. This is our full time job and we are here to help you in any and all ways that we can. Families take care of each other. Since Kara is so open with how she became a mom, she find that most of her clients are also as open with her with many of their comments new mom issues. A lot of our clients have experienced or know someone who has experienced infertility.
