Have you heard of this new type of family photography session that not a lot of photographers (or clients) are talking about?
We all know the typical Woodlands TX family photography session set out in urban streets where the family is walking, holding hands.

Or, the family session out in a random field where everyone is posed perfectly and smiling for the camera.

And hey, I love those as much as the next Woodlands TX family photographer!
But I want to talk to you about a low-stress, high-vibe, simple session type that doesn’t require bribing your husband or kids for a happy smiley family photo session!
Let’s talk about “A Day in the Life“ photography sessions.
Have you heard of these?
If you’re scratching your head wondering, “What on earth is that?” then you’re in for a treat!
Content Points
You know the day-to-day moments that seem mundane now, but you just know in 20 years, they’re going to be what you want to remember about your family?
Pancakes and cartoons on Saturday mornings.
The trips to the park after school pickup.
Mommy and me classes.
Family walks around the neighborhood.
Imagine having a photographer follow you around to capture those perfectly imperfect moments of everyday life.
“A Day in the Life” photography session is like a time capsule of your real, unfiltered family life. No need for fancy outfits or posing under studio lights. It’s all about the raw, tangible memories of what your life truly feels like at this moment.
(Insert your personal experiences or preferences when it comes to this type of session. For example – “We had a day in the life photography session done 5 years ago and they’re some of my most cherished memories. I love the traditional family photos too, but there is something about the raw and off-the-cuff style of the day in the life session that’s more authentic and true to our family.”)

- Mini Golf + Sno Cones
- Unwrapping Christmas presents and making Christmas cookies
- A visit to the ice cream shop and shopping downtown
- Going to the park and Target (yes really!)
- Waiting for the new baby (doctor’s visit, prepping nursery, etc)
The possibilities are endless! (Want more ideas? Let’s brainstorm together!
You can even add in video clips to enhance the experience and the memories.

How to Make it Happen!
If you’re anything like me, the idea of not having to coordinate outfits and stress out about if your kids will cooperate sounds pretty great! So here are some tips for making your “A Day in The Life” session a success:
- Plan a day that’s a common occurrence for your family: This is going to make the session and the memories particularly special. You’ll look back and remember it as something your family did all the time, not “that one time we went to this strange new place for photos.”
- Choose your activities: Start paying attention now to your day to day activities as a family. What do you do every week or every month that everyone has fun doing?
- Then give me a call. 832-573-3731 – We won’t do the whole activity – just a part of them for photos. But the kids will have a blast.
Don’t stress about how you look: I get it mama, we all want to look our best in photos, but this is about the memories (not getting everyone to look picture perfect– that includes you)!
