Baby Loss Awareness Month

October is Infant Loss Awareness Month. But more specifically, October 9-15th is Baby Loss Awareness week and 2022 is the 20th anniversary. Baby Loss Awareness Week is a wonderful opportunity to bring those affected together as a community and give anyone touched by pregnancy and baby loss a safe and supportive space to share their experiences and feel that they are not alone. Did you know that 1 and 4 women are effected?

I am one of those women.

If you have read my story, you know that our journey to parenthood was anything but easy.

My husband and I lost several babies early on. But that doesn’t make it any easier. And even 13 years later, I still think of them daily.

I just recently went to a conference to help with self-help. They helped me dig out a lot of feelings about my infertility, loss of the babies and the IVF process. I had no idea all of the trauma! I think that while you are going through it, you stuff it all down. Now it is all coming back up and weird and random times. Guess you have to deal with things.

Now October is a really busy time of year. But on October 15th, I am going to take a few minutes out of our schedule to remember all of the babies who are in our hearts. It is called the Wave of Light. Directions are below.

Join the global Wave Of Light at 7pm local time on 15 October

Simply light a candle and leave it burning for at least 1 hour to join us in remembering all babies who have died too soon. Post a photo of your candle to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #WaveOfLight

And if you are a mommy who has lost a child or pregnancy, I am so sorry. It is a pain that is unimaginable.

I am always here if you need someone to speak to. And there is also a fabulous organization called Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. If you haven’t been to their site, please go.
