So you have digital files – now what?

So you have taken gorgeous family photos with us.

Now what?

You have a few on your walls and probably an album on your coffee table. But you also have a ton of digital images to do something with. So let’s have some fun.

I have put together a list of some things you may need. These are a few of my favorites that I use regularly to make sure my digital images are safe. And a few things just for fun.

First thing you need to do is back those digital images up – and everything else you deem important. I suggest to do this on the cloud and an external storage device. Seagate has worked for me in the last 16 years. I purchase 1TB a year.

I always suggest that my clients get a digital frame. I have had my Nixplay for over 6 years and it is still kicking. I love it. It is in my kitchen and it rotates images of 20 years. So fun! They have all sizes, but get the biggest you can. I have the 15.6″ and I wish they had a bigger one. Bigger is better! And I highly suggest wifi.

My parent’s have a Skylight digital frame. This allows all of their kids to send them images on a regular basis through only an email address. Super simple. It is also wifi based. They are smaller, but plenty big for grandparents.

If you like to print things. Here are some fun suggestions.

I found a 5×7″ slip-in photo album. It is super cute and comes in a few colors. Or if you prefer the 4×6″ traditional albums, here is a steal. It holds 300 photos. Just remember that they peel and stick albums will ruin your photos.

If you are anything like our family, we also have a TON of really old photos that are loose and need to be organized. I need several of these storage boxes. Here is a 4×6″ version which will protect the photos. And a 5×7″ version as well. These will stack and keep them safe from dust. They are acid free. These can also be used for many other things if you don’t want to put photos in them.

And if you have an artist at home? Here is a link to those fun kid art frames.

I hope these were helpful. Let me know if you have any questions.
