Session Details

Details
A custom photo session is a rare indulgence and something everyone should experience at least once a year.  A Premium session with me is fun, relaxed, natural, and freeing.  Don’t expect to have to sit through stiff, super-posed shots. Instead, I like to set the stage and then let the characters play so that images are real, spontaneous, and fresh. This is not formula photography.  From coordinating your session day, to our adventures at the session itself, to the hours spent in my digital darkroom hand-processing each image, the experience is customized just for you. When you invest in a session with me, you deserve my full focus and attention toward making sure you get the kind of images you have pictured in your heart and hopefully, a few extra surprises, too.

Premium sessions can last anywhere from 1-2.5 hours and are ideal for newborns, younger babies, larger families, and those who want to have a relaxed, customized photographic experience. The images you purchase as part of your collection will receive full retouching and enhancement (like the kind of images you see in my galleries) and are full resolution files.

Investment
The Creative Fee for a Premium session in studio is $99 and on location is $150 and covers time/talent only. I have recently added a new session fee that is my digital session fee. It is $600 and includes an image box, high resolution CD with all of your beautifully retouched images, and 5×7 prints of each of those images. This is a great option for those of your that are long time clients and know that you will be purchasing the CD.

I have a really unique investment menu, that is really just like a menu! You can select exactly what YOU want, not what others think you would want. So there are no collections or packages in my studio. It is a fully custom experience, where I help you design and accomplish your ultimate experience. Whether that is a wall collage or a beautiful custom album. I have items that range from $50 to $1300, so there is something for everyone. However, my average client tends to spend anywhere from $600-1200. My clients love the variety of mediums such as gallery wraps, acrylic, metal, metallic float wraps and split canvases that I offer. For a full session view, we offer albums and proof books. We also offer a variety of gift items such as iPhone cases, jewelry, purses and storyboards. Please contact me for a consultation on how we can help you make custom photography part of your home decor.

Session Location
Typically, our sessions fall into one or a combination of the following categories:

At Home

Sessions at home tend to be more intimate, relaxed, and more personal. They’re the perfect setting for all kinds of sessions, but especially ideal for families with babies or toddlers. KP Photo always makes it a habit to come to your home for newborns, as we prefer to shoot them under two weeks old.  Your home doesn’t have to look like a Pottery Barn catalog…it should reflect you, imperfections at all. You will be surprised with what we can do at home!
Urban and/or Downtown

I love weaving the vibe of urban into family photo sessions and urban locations work great for maternity, families with older children, or those that want their images to have a funky, hip flare. Urban doesn’t necessarily have to mean grungy: think texture, color, and architecture.

Natural

The Woodlands IS nature, so let’s embrace it! It has such a unique blend of natural settings. An open field with a brilliant blue sky, a patch of wildflowers, a lush park with bubbling creek all make great locations for a photo session and I have several go-to spots that make beautiful settings for your images.

Studio

For some types of sessions, the studio is where it is easiest and safest. For example, for children under 12 months I usually suggest for you to come to the studio, as I have many safe props for them to be “contained” in. And I have many great and colorful backgrounds to choose from. I also have the option of using our 1/3 of an acre backyard as a studio setting as well.
Date, Time, What to Wear, Etc.
Upon booking your session, I will provide plenty of information on how to prepare, what to wear, etc. We’ll set up the session date, time, and location together and discuss your vision  for the session. Be sure to see the FAQ’s for more details on Premium sessions.

After the Session
After we have a fabulous time playing and taking some breath-taking portraits. You will go home and enjoy your day! I will go home. Then the work begins for me. I download, backup your images and rate them (selecting only the best for you to see). I will choose 2-3 for your sneak peak to post on Facebook and the blog that evening. Yes, you read right, I post something  the day of the session! You don’t have to wait. Fantastic, huh? That way,  you can start sharing them with all of your friends and family.

Then usually around 2 weeks after the session, I will give you a call and let you know your final, fully edited images are ready for viewing. You will come to the studio viewing/sales room for a presentation of your session. This is a fantastic time to see all of our products, ask questions and most of all purchase from your session. You will see a slideshow of your session, view your fully edited images, and then go through our state-of-the-art software that will allow you to view your images as large as a 20×24″ image on our wall. You can narrow down your 40+ images to only the ones you absolutely love, compare them side-by-side and build your own collages. This software is fantastic and you will LOVE it. It also for purchasing, invoicing, cropping, converting to other colors, slideshows and so much more!

After you make your purchase, I require payment in full, before I place the order through my lab. Prints are ready in 2 weeks. Albums take around 2 months, as they are fully custom. I do have payment plans available. However, the order will not be placed until the final payment is placed.

Lifetime Warranty
Some of your might know that backing up files is HUGE for anyone in the computer field. Well, photography is no different. I wanted to let my clients know that I have triple protection of your files. I have your files on my local hard drive, a media server in our home and a cloud server on the internet. My husband is also working on putting together a 4th replication together on a cloud server. So your files are safe.

Another thing you should know about KP Photo. Many photographers “purge” your files after your session. This will not happen at KP Photo. I will delete your RAW files after a year. But I keep your final jpegs (purchased files only) FOREVER. Yes, you read that right. So if you buy a CD of your newborn sessions and loose the CD 3 years later, I can replace it. If your canvas wrap is damaged in a fire or flood. I can replace it for you. (FYI. Canvas wraps should be covered on insurance. If you need a letter stating value, just let me know).  If you purchased 10 8x10s, I will keep those 10 files forever.
