All About Kara

Kara

You can call me pretty much anything and it probably applies; mom, wife, sister friend, boss etc.  I’m probably very similar to you.  I struggle to get my child to school on time each day, my house is a disaster 90% if the time, and I go to work and bring it home with me way too often.

So what makes me special?  And why can I take spectacular images of your kids?  My love of photography started in middle school when I won a contest with my 35 mm point and shot.  My aunt gave birth to my cousin and I took his first portrait.  It continued on through the years while I earned 2 degrees in education.  Gaining this foundation has really allowed me to connect with the children I photograph and understand each stage.  But through mine and my husbands journey of infertility, I realized that my true joy and passion was working with new families.  About 60% of my clients have some sort of infertility issue, so they feel comfortable coming to me and talking about all kinds of things.

Other great things about me… I am huge about educating myself and my staff.  So we go to WPPI ever year, several workshops and are a part of multiple professional societies like PPA, and NACP.  I believe that if you keep up to date on things, your true talent will shine through.

I also love to give back.  We do a lot for Resolve, through the Miracle book.  But I also write a bi-monthly article for Woodlands Mommy.  This is for moms to learn how to use their cameras.  If they want to learn more they can join one of the classes at KPU (the teaching branch of Kara Powell Photography).  We started these as part of our platinum customer service.  We so all kinds of things to make your expirience with us just like when you shop at a high end retailer, such as Gucci.  So when people ask for or need something, we deliver.  I want you to remember the way you felt during our sessions.

And of course experience.  I do about 80% newborn/maternity sessions.  In 2011, I photographed 22 newborns and so far this year we have done 9.  What does this mean to you?  Next time you are looking fr a newborn photographer, ask them how many they did last year in comparison to all of their other sessions.  You want to know their experience with newborns, not seniors or weddings.  Those are very different types of photography.  I do this for a living and know the tricks to do this job well and quickly.  I will not be cheap, but I promise to be good.  So whether you are looking for something to connect with, an education, giving back, customer service, or experience, what I suggest is do your homework.  Come by the studio and check us out.  I would love to meet you and chat awhile!

Oh and just in case you wanted to know some stats about me…
